What a great link. I have always made a donation to my local shelter on my pets birthdays. All my past pets have been rescues so it is my way of giving back. Usually dog food and then a couple of toys, tennis balls, etc. and always a new leash and collar to send home with a new adoptive owner. My daughter who would fill our home with animals if she could is now of the age where she can volunteer at a small shelter right down the street, she will be going twice a week this summer for an hour to help. She is so thrilled! I have to give her credit, sometimes I can't get past the smell and ours is super super clean and only houses 10-15 dogs at a time
