you are right...and that is exactly why I went ahead and trimmed it. My friend that is keepign them for me has always had small dogs, I'm not worried about her taking care of them and keeping them safe...i just worry that she won't brush them properly. Or that she will leave their harnesses on the whole time. I just wouldn't want to come home and have to shave her. So IMO, this is much better
