My sister got her maltese (Snowflake) before I ever thought about getting a yorkie. She told me how she originally put Snowflake to sleep in the bathroom but ended up crying and barking all night. She was 'forced' to sleep with Snowflake ever since - she finds it cute but the price she pays is having to wake up very early in the morning. I was afraid of the same thing happening with Bernie so from the very first night he's been sleeping in living room. The first night he was confined to his crate and then cried to get out around 6:00am. Since then he stays in the living room but is not confined to the crate - he's free to roam the entire living room and his own doggy bed. I have not heard him complain since.
