You could always use one of my dad's favorite quotes....because I said so.
I'm not a breeder and will get shot for this....but depending on how well puppy was doing and how well your dad does with tending to the needs of a small dog (don't know how big his poodle was)...I would consider 10 weeks.
Because of Ramsey's size and my owning yorkies previously I was allowed to get her at 10 weeks.
I think it's sweet...your dad has baby fever.
