I love this thread! DH and I both broke out our bikes we bought last year and are going to start getting in better shape and he plans to ride to work about 4.5 miles one way a few times a week to cut down on the expense -- I plan on doing the same whenever I need to run to the grocery store for something small or to a friends house.
As far as food expenses go we are both doing WW and only eating an actual serving of food at a time so that's helping us dramatically with making our dollars stretch
