The tail is your lowest worry in my opinion. She may hold it down more while in the ring or with trianing - not hold it up so high. There is so much going on in the ring, she may become preoccupied and not hold the tail so strong. Sometimes a gay tail comes with a super strong attitude on a bitch. JMO.
As far as politics go - I would show her. You might not win everytime, but not all judges are going to give her the win based on favors or whatever. I have met many judges that are pretty fair - there are more fair ones than the other. Just from my own observations. I have had a judge give a win to a puppy against my girl and she had taken all the wins up until then and after that, even a 5 point major. Then the owner of the puppy and the judge was spotted eatting at dinner later that night and the puppy owner was on the show committee. I would not have minded so much if he had picked a better dog, but a puppy that played in the ring and had a hard time walking. Ugh! This has only happened once since I returned to showing.
So go have fun, get your feet wet and see what happens. I very, rarely listen to what others say. Go with your heart.
