Puppy mills are so upsetting. Our family bought a mill dog (my mom's impulsive purchase, not mine!) and it was just the worst experience ever! The dog had a level 5 heart murmur or something -a pronounced murmur so loud that you could tell just by holding her something was wrong. Our vet told us that she wouldn't live past 3 months. All of this, RIGHT after we'd had to put our 14 year old husky down. It turned out that the puppy's murmur was related to a valve in her heart that didn't close up after birth so after a $5,000 surgery (eventually the puppy store's vet filed for his insurance), she's fine.
It's very upsetting to see the conditions these dogs are kept under. We have one of those stores around where I live and even though practically the whole town protested, they're still here and selling dogs! UGH! |
