I think the best thing for her to do is to avoid getting licked and even resist excessive touching of Sky. When I fist got Bernie I noticed that the saliva was responsible for my reactions - I think I'm building up tolerance b/c even that doesn't bother me nearly as much anymore. Your mom can also temporarily try taking Clariton or some other non-drowsy OTC allergy med. for the week she's taking care of Sky.
