Default Attacked by a breeders yorkie

I posted this on another thread but I need some quick advice..I went to see some puppies tonight. The breeder said the parents had such loving and sweet dispositions. They ( mom,dad & pups) were gorgeous. Just what I was looking for. The mom was so upset with us being there though. She would not let me pet her or pick her up. She ran from me. The dad let me hold him but was very shaky and nervous. The mom was barking and running around the entire time. I thought she was displaying normal protective instincts over her babies but it made me wonder if she had a poor temperament. We decided to sleep on it tonight and I said I would call the breeder in the a.m to let her know if we decide to come back to get one of the pups. As we we were leaving and exiting the front door, the mom yorkie semi- aggressively nipped at my pant leg and tried to bite my sandal. Was this because she thought I was taking one of her babies or was this a red flag. The breeder said she never acted that way before but I wonder? should we buy one of these pups..? Need some serious help..thanks
