As a groomer I know how unpredictable a dog can be, and I also know that accidents can happen...but with that being said...

That is a HUGE GASH! not just a scratch or even a cut...my God, she could have cut his head off!
I looked at the picture, and cannot imagine what tool she was using that did this terrible thing...my best guess is a dematting tool...but in that area it is highly unlikely.
Most good groomers will pay any vet bill incurred as a result of a grooming "accident". At least in my area, that is what I was taught to do. (thank God I have never cut a pet in my care)

I am just so sorry that this has happened to you and your precious little one. My Cricket is small like that too, and I am just glad that I can do the job myself.
