Take a container that is about the same size of what ever water dish you will be traveling with and make a ice cube for that size of dish. This way the dog can lick on the ice to keep hydrated, but not over drink so they wouldn't have to go potty as much. We on occasion have to fast our dogs for surgerys and blood test, ect.. so it would hurt them for a few hours to go without food. But I am with you I think my babies should have everything all the time. Another tip for inside the kennels or cretes is the product you line your cuboards with, not contact paper, but the other stuff that isn't sticky but I get mad everytime I use it because it is clingy. It is of rubbery consistancy, well anyways that works great as a non skid product in the bottom. It adherse to the plastic in the cage and allows your dogs not to slip around. I used to use old towels to line my kennels to go the vets ect... Now I put that in the bottom of their kennels with their favorite blanket and it work so nice...

Hope this helps
