Are you sure Mignon needs to lose three pounds? Not all Yorkies will fit into the under 7 pound standard because they are genetically programmed to be larger. Make sure you check with your vet to make sure that Mignon truly is overweight, not just over-standard.
Green beans helped get my pudgy Lady get down to her goal weight after she was diagnosed with diabetes. (Dogs get diabetes for the same reasons people do - obesity and genetics). I never measured them, but just gave her the food appropriate for her ideal weight on the kibble bag and used frozen, slightly thawed green beans as treats. They are full of fiber so they fill them up.
Lady loves hers cut up in a Busy Buddy Twist and Treat so she can chase them around.
