Oops - can't edit anymore, so I have to repost this:


One thing you need to consider is making sure all of your software & hardware is compatible with Mac before you switch. Also, if you only need it for personal use, don't get tricked into thinking you need the most expensive computer out there. There are PLENTY of inexpensive computers out there in the $400 that will be fast & do just exactly what you need.

Ooops! I just noticed I have an HP! But - a few years ago, I only needed this computer for personal use. I paid 400 bucks for it (CPU only), and it has done even a fairly decent job even at what I need at a professional level. The technology has vastly improved since then. I had to get an external hard-drive, as well as upgrade the RAM - neither of which are major, but point is -- you don't need to spend a fortune to get a good computer.
