Another company is Magic Attic. They have dolls of different nationalities and interests and books about them. They don't make them any more but you can find them on ebay. They have all kinds of neat accessories and outfits like the American Girl dolls, but they are hard bodied instead of soft body. Same size though, 18" but more slender.
