I would not use K/D..On the liver shunt group, we have had several dogs (including my own) seizure on low protein foods like K/D, U/D, etc. because of the pork liver. Pork liver is absolutely one of the worst things you can give a liver compromised dog. L/D canned is the best choice out of the Hill's products...it does not contain pork liver. Also, L/D contains higher amounts of certain vitamins and minerals like vitamin E and zinc which liver compromised dogs need and also reduced amounts of vit and min that they need less of like copper.
It's not only important to look at the amount, the TYPE is just as important
