My vet said that an all stages food is fine for a puppy as long as they gain weight. My Breeder also mentioned the protein concern, but my vet did not share the same concern. I used to swear by Merrick but they did have quality issues so I switched to Evanger. My girls love that. I feed Evanger canned mixed with Timberwolf Organic Wild and Natural Dry food for the evening meal, and leave out the Timberwolf Dry during the day for them to munch on.
