Did the vet consult with Pet Poison Control about the specific carpet cleaner - bc that would seem pretty important too. I mean, theoretically, if there was an actual poison/toxic response - the kidneys could certainly go into overtime - causing fluid overload (systemically) - which could, essentially, "backload" the heart, cause systemic high blood pressure - and possibly even sound like HF via steth.
But, I guess I'm a little surprised at how dismissive he seemed at the carpet cleaner inhalant theory - bc I think it has some merit, you know?
Let's see, trying to recall who has Poison Control services - I know ASPCA does and some vet schools do - but your Vet should have those numbers as well.
