Yeah if I dont know the dog I'll either force my boys to keep walking or I'll pick them up. I just tell people they are too little to play with the 'big boys' and smile ... like you, I don't want to seem like a snob or rude, but you just never know, even the most friendliest dog can suddenly turn on your little baby! I also paid too much for them and love them way tooo much to take the chance because someone else says their dog is friendly!
