You have to do what you feel is right for your dog. My Jake is little and when I am out walking him ANY dog I don't know I will pick him up. I just don't want to take the chance. #1 I love this little dog waaay too much for something bad to happen to him. #2 I paid waaaay too much for something bad to happen to him that I could have avoided.
