It's too bad you don't care for Labradores. Our two best dogs as far as temperament and obediance have been both a yellow & black Lab. And don't let their friendliness fool you, if you were ever threatened believe me they'd protect you. Not only does our black Lab Lucee have the perfect temperament but she is soooo gentle with Bella. Bella beats the heck out of her and she just takes it, It's amazing! Good luck with whichever breed you go with.
(The only thing negative about a Lab is they shed like crazy!)
