First of all, are you sure they are strays? If so you really need to call the shelter even if it isn't a no kill. I know it hurts, but in the long run it is better for the dog than letting it run around loose to get hit by a car, attacked by wild animals, or get heartworm and die a slow miserable death.

Are there any no kill shelters in neighboring towns?
