I like most of what Cesar Millan says, but not everything. He isn't as good with small dogs as he is with big ones. Sometimes he advocates being rough with small dogs, like holding them down, and I don't agree with that. I saw him drag a big dog across a slick floor that the dog was afraid to cross and I didn't like that. Dragging any dog into something it fears might just make it be more afraid. I sometimes wonder how much time elapses between the first shot of the dog and the shot where the dog does what he wants it to do. Cesar has a lot of good ideas, but I pick and choose what to apply to my own dogs. I guess I'm a little cynical about people on TV. Assuming they know what they're doing and taking their advice can be dangerous. |
