I actually looked into a pets hotel in the Chicago area! (I visit my parents there). However, I heard mixed reviews about the Evanston location. Here is a link:

Perhaps you can look into a pets hotel, or other boarding facility, in the city where your grandmother is? That way you can always stop by and see how your baby is doing - which may ease any of your anxieties.
However, I'm sure there are many other boarding facilities in Chicago. 24 hour surveillance was very important to me, and not many places have people present round the clock so that's why I went with the Pets Hotel.
