I would definitely recommend crate training. When done properly it's a great tool...however, if done incorrectly you can create bad habits so do your research and be consistant in your training. I think teaching your dog to go in a crate is a good thing...you'll have to transport to the vet and at some point you may need them in their for their safety. I like an x-pen or playpen for training instead of a room...too many hazards in a room. There was a family in our town that left their german shepherd puppy in the bathroom while they went to church...he chewed the water line to the toilet and flooded their house...$20,000.00 later they were good as new again. In my mind a playpen works better!
