Okay! I'm always shocked when some vets take such a radical first step in treating our pets. I mean, amitriptilyne right off the bat? If it were me, I would use DAP - which has been all over the pet community (and the vet community) as being a miracle for dogs who have, especially, separation anxiety. I just did a yahoo search - and here is just one store who has a few things you could read about : D.A.P.
From my nursing days, I was not a big fan of Amitript., for many reasons - so, it just kind of surprises me to see a vet put a dog on this drug so quickly before exhausting other things, ya know? |
Can you smell it?
For me I leave on a radio and open the blinds and I put the stair step we made in front of the couch. Sadie used to shake really bad when I left in the am for work and now since I leave the radio on for her, she never shakes at all. The radio is not loud at all. It's so low you can barely hear it. It's enough to drown out the complete silence in the house. I have a friend who's mom used to play dog videos on a small tv she left on for her dog. that's funny! My dogs are fine with the radio. And I am almost positive that they are big country music fans by now :-)
