When I took my first couple classes, the instructors were good, but they were ignorant of small-dog issues. Like a collapsing trachea. They had me hook the leash up to his collar and give him minor 'corrections' when he needed them.

I didn't know any better, so I figured they knew what they were talking about. It wasn't until someone on YT questioned me on it that I changed my ways. He now uses only a harness with the leash hooked in front. But sometimes he coughs, and I'm not sure if it's reverse sneezing or trachea problems. If it's trachea, there's a chance it's my fault.

Thank you for the good advice.... luckily when I signed up they totally agreed with me that I can't use a collar. They said I could use a head harness too, but I think I'm going to stick with the regular harness because that is what Gracie is familiar with...
Gracie coughs too, and I took her to the vet because i was concerned it was something with her trac, but it is just reverse sneezing.
