I came home from work the other night to find that my yorkie, cooper, had thrown up about 8 times. The next morning I took him out to go to the bathroom and he couldn't pee. He was pushing and nothing was coming out. When i picked him up, there was blood all over his penis. So I took him to the vet and they said it was good that I took him when i did or else his bladder would have burst. It was full with urine because there were stones blocking his urinary tract. I had to buy him special food (royal canin urinary SO) to try to dissolve the crystals and break down the stones so that he could pass them. They wanted him to go to the emergency clinic to stay the night because they put a catheter in him to drain his bladder. So I picked him up the next day and took him to the vet so they could watch him, but i got to take him home that night. He was extremely restless, still having trouble urinating, and barking very loudly. I ended up staying awake with him to calm him down until he fell asleep. Finally he did and I got a little sleep and then I heard him making painful noises (he sounded like a goat!) so i went in there and he was trying really hard to urinate, but couldn't. I had to take him to the emergency clinic AGAIN so they could drain his bladder. Then I had to take him back to the vet and they let me know that he needed surgery to remove the stones. The grand total so far is $2300. I am a college student, so all of this is very hard to pay for. My sister let me borrow some money and so did my aunt, but i have to pay them back. IT is the hardest thing I have ever had to go through, financially and emotionally. I love my little Cooper to death and will do whatever I can to help him...I just got a call from the vet saying the surgery went well, so that's a relief

Just keep him in your prayers please because it can be a recurring problem!!
