My fawn was much younger than the one in the video, and being raised, from 3 days old around my Yorkies, I had absolutely no problems. He did not run quite as wild as the fawn in the video, he followed my girls pace, thinking he was one of them. Also had hardwood floors, so he couldn't run that fast. We had to make little pads for his hooves so he wouldn't slip.
I wouldn't risk an older fawn coming under my care, around my Yorkies, because you're right, in that instance, the fawns hooves could be deadly.
As a matter-of-fact, once my fawns are 3 months old and weaned, they go to my Wildlife Vets to live until they are old enough to jump the fence and return to the wild.
I only foster orphaned babies, there are other wildlifers that do the older animals that come in. Actually haven't done anything the past two years, since getting sick.
