If you have your heart set on this breeder, I would ask her to take a picture of the pup with your name and date on a piece of paper by the pup. And I would also ask her to take pictures or even video camera of where her dogs are kept. If possible try to get references from past buyers who have been to her house as well so you can get an idea of their living conditions.
Make sure you see the registration paperwork beforehand, you can even look it up online to make sure it is legit.
I would also do a quick search to make sure she is not on a USDA list.
Ask plenty of questions and trust your instinct.
