For good stuff, I have a Nikon D40 SLR - with either a 18-55mm or 50mm 1.8 (love it).
For portability, I have the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FXO7 - really nice and small point and shoot. BUT, it has a Leica lens - if you can believe that! So, for it's size and price - you cannot beat it with that lens. Can't remember the pixels - but I'm sure within the same line, they make the pixels you're looking for.
