Conner had a real cottony coat until he was almost a year old. He had to be brushed every day, or would get mats on his legs like you wouldn't believe. I was constantly brushing, and he hated it. Now he has regular hair, but I keep his hair short, because he is always scratching when his hair is long, and he has a tendency to look like a ragamuffin. He is always taking his paws to rub his head and mustache. That's when I know it is time for another clipping.
