The male was around for a while and then disappeared and we never saw him again. Henrietta, the female, hatched 12 baby ducklings and headed to the neighbors swimming pool. It was so much fun. I was taking care of that pool during the week so I spent the day there watching them. The guy who owned the pool wasn't too pleased about the duck poop in his pool...he got home before I could clean it! We caught them all and took them to a pond.
Well, we have a pool, but it is in the backyard. They were still there in the front the last time I checked. Baby ducks are some of the cutest things in the world, but I'd be afraid for them nesting in the front yard. There are lots of neighborhood cats, and we get an occasional hawk around here. This is a tract home community, so it's not a great place for a duck to raise a family.
