They are probably planning to nest in your yard somewhere. A few years ago, there was a pair of mallard ducks hanging around our yard. Next thing we know, they'd made a nest in the muga pine right next to the driveway and just under the basketball hoop. Needless to say, no basketball playing for a while. The male was around for a while and then disappeared and we never saw him again. Henrietta, the female, hatched 12 baby ducklings and headed to the neighbors swimming pool. It was so much fun. I was taking care of that pool during the week so I spent the day there watching them. The guy who owned the pool wasn't too pleased about the duck poop in his pool...he got home before I could clean it! We caught them all and took them to a pond. |
