Hair loss is a symptom of thyroid disease and yes, sometimes yorkies have thyroid problems. If that's the cause...the treatment is simply taking a pill every day.
I did have a friend whose cat had hair loss after being neutered. His vet determined his hormones were out of whack....gave him a hormone shot...the hair grew back.
