Download itunes.
Plug in your Ipod.
If it asks you anything, click no or whatever.
Go to your desktop and create a new folder.... (By right clicking on your desktop. then scroll down till you see new. Then click on folder)
Go to 'my computer' on your desktop (or you can find it when you click the windows icon at the bottom of your computer)
Look for 'device' or 'ipod' or 'storage device' or whatever she named her ipod.

click through the folders until she sees the folder with all of her songs
copy them all then paste then paste them in the folder she created earlier.

NOW she has the songs on her computer and ipod.

OR

Download itunes
Just hook up ipod and then push yes to syncing.. It may or may not erase!
Ooh, I would have never thought of that. Sounds like it would work.

Another option (I think) would be to say no to synching. Then whatever computer she's on, she could manually transfer new songs to her ipod by dragging and dropping. She could also delete, one at a time. But she'd never be able to synch again. I like love_me_cody's idea for a longterm fix.

But if she loses all her songs, don't hold me responsible.
