Animal Smiley 019 CA Voters

I just got this from the ASPCA. Sharing it.

Dear California Animal Advocates,

SB 1775 is a bill before the California Senate that will punish dog fighters where they feel it most—in their wallets. The bill would allow property, possessions and money used in or accrued by the commission of dog fights to be seized. The proceeds from the forfeited property would be used to reimburse law enforcement for prosecuting these cases and go to animal welfare organizations that rescue and rehabilitate fighting dogs.

It is important that those who force animals to fight be punished appropriately. It’s not enough to pay a fine or serve a sentence if these people are allowed to keep their ill-gotten spoils. Forfeiture of personal and real property is an effective means of punishing and deterring the criminal activities of dog fighters.

What You Can Do
The future of SB 1775 depends on the state senators who serve on the Senate Public Safety Committee. Please visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center to personalize and send an email to the members of the committee, requesting a favorable vote on SB 1775.

Thank you for your support, California!
