Hi Thorsmomma!! I also have a lab and yorkie...i feed them canidae since it is balanced for all breeds, size and life stages, it is just easier than having to separate the food. Another thing is the quality of the food, like was mentioned before purina one is not the best food out there...and your lab also deserves better food. You will see notice that the best foods are more expensive than the ones sold in grocery stores but the feeding servings are smaller so it will probably not make too much difference at the end.

As per your "itchy" dog, hehehe, it can be many things, some dogs have this reaction to grains, normally corn, but some dogs also have to the meat source, the best one to use in this cases is lamb with is very unlikely to get an allergic reaction.

Just another thing, i have been reading good things from lab owners about costco's own brand of dog food (i cannot remember right now) for the price range, the lamb and rice is suposed to be the best choice out there.
