For the potty training - what has worked for me:

Keeping them very confined during the process. If they are not confined, I watch 'em like a hawk! I make it nearly impossible for them to make a mistake because they're never un-watched. Coby is a year old and still does not have the run of the house. He is 99.9% trustworthy in the areas in which he is allowed free reign. (Our older Shih Tzu is 11 and has free run of the entire house.) When we have the time to devote 100% of our attention to him, he is allowed in the other areas. As he learns that he has to return to the potty area from those areas, he'll get bigger free reign. Whenever we would have setbacks, we simply reduced the area and started again. The months of really hard work will pay off in years of stress free living.

We also give GREAT treats for correct potty behaviors when training. Because really, that is the greatest trick I want them to learn. So GREAT treats and really fun parties - hooping and hollering - let him know that made you SOOOO happy!!

Wishing you Good Luck, Lots of Dilligence and Patience, and Tons o' Fun!!
what did you use to confine him ?
