Same principle, but my other coupler allowed them to get tangled up. This one does not. It really does work well. The leashes for each dog are about 4' long which seems a bit short until you get used to it. They can easily be replaced with longer leashes. Or, you can put an extender from the hand grip to the coupler if you want to lengthen it that way. I personally like it just the way it is, very easy to control the two dogs.
