I got a little teary eyed reading that. I think that's simply wonderful that you can be validated for the type of work that you do - even though you do it day in and day out even without the benefit of thank you's or good job's all the time.
And I think the fact that it was your peers makes it even more special. They KNOW what it takes. They KNOW how hard it is. They KNOW that some are better at it than others.
