Your baby is a real cutie and you should be very proud of her.
The
breed standard that show breeders follow says
"Head~ Small and rather flat on top, the skull not too prominant or round, the muzzle not too long..."
Janet Jackson in her book,
A New Owners Guide to Yorkshire Terriers, interprets the standard as follows in this area: [COLOR=RoyalBlue
]"The Yorkshire Terrier puppy should have a pretty face with very dark, medium sized eyes...Hold the puppy and look at the angle at which the muzzle comes out from between the eyes. Although the yorkie should have a lot of stop or definition as the muzzle meets the foreskull, the muzzle should come straight out from below the eyes. A down angle to the face, referred to as "down-faced" is not very attractive. Muzzle lengths vary from long to short. Muzzle widths vary from very broad to snippy and pointed. Beauty here may lie in the eyes of the beholder."[/COLOR]
I do not agree with all of the standard as written because I do not agree with tail docking and some other things, but it is a good place to start as a new fancier of the breed to study what the "experts" like. I, personally, prefer big eyes and a short muzzle, the so-called
babydoll look that is not the standard according to the YTCA, but not everyone does, so this is where you will, with time, develop your own ideas of what "look" you may like best. And, if you are not going to breed or show and your yorkies are for "lovin' only", then whatever you like if it is healthy is still all yorkie and is perfectly okay!
