Well, I'm back from the vet with Lil Miss Maggy May, I have some good news and some bad news. I'll start with the good news. The doc did the skin scraping and it came back negative for the demodex mites (YAYYY) but he said I can still go ahead and give her the Goodwinol med for a month just to be sure, he said sometimes they can real be way down in the poors and will actually have them even if the skin scraping came back negative, so, when we got home I started her back on the Goodwinol. He said he believes the spot on her forehead is a bacterial infection, she has a really deep divit in there between her eyes and said I'm gonna have to be very careful and make sure that stays super clean in there and no dirt build up cause the divid is so deep, he also said she may have problems with that all throughout her life so be sure and keep a very close eye on it, so, she's on cephalexin antibiotic 2 times a day for two weeks for that. She was able to go ahead and get her rabies shot today and so far she's doing great, no reaction, keeping my fingers and toes all crossed here. I also spoke to him about her getting spayed, I desperately want to get her spayed and wanted to have it done before she came into her first heat, but, with all the hurdles she's had to overcome and is still over coming, the vet and I want to hold off as long as possible to give her time to be in tip top shape & get over everything that's going on, and then we'll get her in for the spay. Now for the part that makes me feel like a super big idiot. When we got Maggy, she came from a really bad situation, I didn't see the parents at all, my sister had called me and told me about this whole litter of pups that were going to be euthenized if the lady didn't find homes for all the pups that were only 6 weeks old. Long story short, my Mom went and got two of the pups and my daughter took one of them and my hubby and I took the other one. All we knew for sure is they were part chihuahua. Upon taking Maggy May to my vet for the first time and actually up until now, he swore she was chihuahua and yorkie, but today when he seen her, he said, WOW, I don't think she's got any yorkie in her after all, look at those ears, they really give it away, she's chihuahua and Pappillion
And here I've been posting at YT all this time thinking she was part Yorkie
I'm very sorry ladies, I really didn't know she wasn't part yorkie, I was going by what our vet said because the ladies where Maggy May came from had 28 dogs inside and 25 outside and had no clue what the father was. So, it is with regret that I sadly have to say, Maggy May is not part yorkie and it really stinks cause I've grown to love it here at YT and have met some very wonderful ladies. I feel it's only fair that I leave YT and try and find a forum for what she is, I just feel like such an idiot for posting all this time and thinking she was really part yorkie. Does anyone know what you even call a pup that is part chihuahua and pappillion? And sadly, does anyone know of any good forums for this breed of puppy?
