Car Remedies for anxiety in the car?

I have posted before about Tucker's extreme anxiety when travelling. I honestly wish that I never had to put him into a situation which stresses him out so badly, but it is imperative that he make the 45 minute, one-way trip to my parents house once every 1-2 weeks.

He LOVES my parents house because they have a yorkie as well, but the trip to get there is horrible. I have tried all of the suggestions about getting him comfortable with the car, but I really don't think he's every going to enjoy travelling. He almost hypervenilates and his little heart beats way to fast for the entire trip. I'm really worried he will seriously make himself sick.

Has anyone tried some sort of "calming" medicine for travel? I saw that 1-800-petmeds has one that is not a sedative (sedatives scare me), but I'm scared to try anything because I definitely don't want to hurt him.

I would really appreciate any advice.
