After the whole pet food recall, I switched Otis to Nature's Variety raw food diet about nine months ago. He eats two medallions in the morning, two in the evening, a total of four a day as recommended by the manufacturer.
He loves the food, has NEVER gotten sick from it. In fact, he seems like a different dog...more energetic and peppy.
But now he's eating his poo. He started doing this about two weeks ago. At first I couldn't confirm it, but sure enough, this morning Otis was caught red-handed eating his poop.
He gets a multivitamin every morning along with a glucosamine pill, and various treats throughout the day, so I don't think he's lacking any nutrients.
He has never behaved like this. He's 8 years old. In fact, one time Otis refused to get in his carrier because there was a small piece of poopie in it, so I know he knows it's dirty.
So how do I stop this, and what is causing the problem?
