I throw them out b/c I'm sure they're a breeding ground for bacteria. Madison takes his out sometimes and buries them in the sand as well, so when he digs them up, they're pretty grossly dirty
. Plus, I'm not sure if they might get weaker with age and them chewing on them more. But actually, mine chew on them til they must be devoid of any flavor and then they're not interested in it anymore.
