There are a few ppl that have great myspace pages totally about puppymills, check those out.

I've done made my mind up I'm putting something on myspace page & my web site about Puppy Mills, thanks for U're advice.

I also am not Amish and can't honestly say I knew that much about them, but in the last year I have learned more than I ever wanted to know, I purchased a puppy from an Amish puppy mill, not knowingly of course. It is located in the York/Lancaster area of Pennsylvania. We bred that dog with our male Yorkie and the puppies were born with a terrible disease called hypotrichosis. This disease is quite rare and causes, at the very least, baldness on their heads and abdomens and can have other even worse problems associated with it.

I am so so sorry for what U've been through, this just isn't right for them to do this to people I just don't understand how they can sleep at night. Was U're puppy a Yorkie? (No we won't down U if it was, mistakes happen.)

I had to do a lot of research but finally tracked down that the person I bought the dog from had purchased the puppy from these people. The Amish look at these dogs as a way to make money, they are not pets by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not saying that making money is bad, just they don't seem to comprehend what they are doing is wrong. I'm assuming because that is the nature of their beliefs.

I just don't see how they can't comprehend what they are doing is wrong, down deep in their hearts they can't see it as wrong? I mean some of these dogs are out in the weather not in heated or central air buildings, dirty water, no food, filth, walking in their pee and poo, no room to turn around in their dens that's what I call their cages. I mean how in the world could anyone in their right mind not know this isn't wrong? Hauling them in Tractor trailers from State to State, in hot or cold trailers. I find this as NO excuse to treat any DOG this way.

I contacted state and county organizations, the ACA, and everyone else I could think of along the way.

Can I ask who U contacted? If U don't want to post it here U can PM with it.

In the end, I got every cent back I paid for our female and they agreed to spay the dam so she would have no more puppies with that disease. The breeders gave that dam to a rescue that called me to report they had been given the dog and the spaying was completed. At least she will get a good home.

Well at least some dogs was brought out of this & saved from this horriable mess!

The sad, sad, part of this is NO ONE can or will put these Amish breeders out of business. The man could never understand through all this, ending only on the day we were to go to court why I was so emotional over......a dog (his words). He just kept wanting to "give me another one."

I don't know why they won't put them out of Business, I mean there HAS to be a WAY!!! I know I'm gonna see what I can do in any way I can to help this not go on at least here in my State.

Now mind U if it was ME that had a business such as theirs with DOGS then U can bet U're bottom dollar I'd be put out of business and setting my butt in jail and all my dogs would be taken away from me. How can this keep going on, what is people afraid of with them? I don't get it at all.

The experience was horrible and my only advice, is never deal with an Amish breeder, even if it doesn't look like a puppy mill. They are incapable of thinking about these dogs as we do. As I said, I got my money, but I was left with my beautiful girl carrying a disease and 3 puppies with this disease and more heartbreak and confusion than any money could ever make up for. I apologize in advance if I have offended anyone who know the Amish, but having gone through this I have earned the right to my opinion.

I can't even start to think what U went through and my heart truely goes out to U. I'm glad U did get somethings resolved tho. I do feel for U and others out here (Just wish others would come forward with their experiences) that have been done this way & Yes U have earned U're right to U're opinion. I wish U the best of luck with U're baby.

I will tell you, that I have a friend in PA that does Rescue, and she says the Amish are the absolute worst puppymillers in the country.

Sheila

Isn't this sad tho, I mean it seem as tho it's so unreal but it is so Real.

I don't care if it is a dog, or a goat, or chicken or a rat, they should be treated humanely and the US Government needs to step in and close these places down and make it a crime to keep any animals in this condition.

I feel the same as U do (Maybe not so much on the rat part, I'm scared to death of them & mice ) but I do think that if they have animals of any sort they should be taken care of even pigs, I know that would be hard but at least remove their poo and pee, give them shelters, clean the chicken coops, put the goat in a green paster as long with horses. And yes they need shut down!!

Teddy and Timmy. Thank you for posting this. I asked YT if we could add a sticky regarding mills and I offered to keep the updatin up, but have not heard anything. Thank you again for posting.

U're welcome, after reading what I've read and seeing what I've seen in my State alone I had to do something, I mean this isn't right no matter what others think. I just don't understand how in the world they aren't getting shut down. Don't make any sense to me.

Many of us without knowing better bought dogs from petstores, byb, bad breeders or puppymills. I myself bought my first yorkie ten years ago from a byb. She is now a small puppymill. He died this past summer from a rare cancer. Cancer is cancer but I believe with all my heart that his bad breeding had a lot to do with it. He also suffered from genetic problems etc. He was a great dog and a good boy. Loving. I made a mistake. I didn't know any better. He is what brought me to fighting the mills, the byb, bad breeders and petstores. Noel who is 4 years old is one of my rescues. She came from the same person that my Newman came from. We now believe that this person was not only a byb, now a small puppymill but that she also brokered dogs from the Amish. Noel I believe was one of those dogs. When we got her she was bleeding rectally, had been beaten and was an emotional wreck and she stunk. She stunk so bad we had to drive with the windows open. The stench stayed with her for at least a month or more and that was after bath after bath. It took 6 months before my husband could touch her. She wasn't aggressive. She was petrified. It took up till this year before she would let a stranger approach her. New people in the house would drive her to hide behind the washer, cowere behind the washer and tremble.

Maybe his cancer was from bad breeding?? Isn't it so sad and heartbreaking to see her in this shape to know what she may of went through before U got her. I feel for her and U. I didn't get any of my Yorkies from any pet stores but I don't have to in order to have a heart that is breaking to see and hear all this. I wish U the best of luck with U're doll. Is there any way U can shut this person down?

She's come a long way, but she is the reason I fight. She and Newman are what drive me to shut these places down. PLEASE CONTINUET TO JOIN OUR FIGHT AND TELL YOUR STORY AND EDUCATE.

Well I too now will fight tooth and nail!! This has to stop and people have to know what is going on. Not just sweep this under the rug or turn the other way.

I apologize in advance if I have offended anyone by what I've said, but my heart says say it and I have to follow my heart. Hope everyone will understand.
