My dog has a Luxating Patella in her right leg but she has been getting acupuncture and is doing alot better. The acupuncture is used to tighten the ligaments on the side of the knee. If the joint is too shallow, only surgery can help that. I do have a 12 yr. old Yorkie that has been a grade 2 her whole life and has never had to have surgery.
