If you don't want your Yorkie cut too short, sometimes you have to ask for a hand cut that costs more. The groomer will then just use the scissors like a hair dresser to cut the pups hair. If they use the clipper the cut will usually be shorter because the combs they attach to the clipper only come in certain sizes. I had to find a new groomer when mine wouldn't hand scissor anymore because it took too much time. When he used the clippers my dog came home looking like a schnauzer and I had asked for a puppy cut!! I'm sure some groomers will comment, I'm just an owner!
