My vet did not reccomend the Lyme vx for my dog. The effective rate right now is to low and the chance of reaction is to high. Currently there is a test for Lyme (I work for a great company that develops Animal diagnostic tests, this is one of our tests)) and I think I'll test each year along with heartworm. Lyme is trateable if caught early. I don't give that vaccination to my horse either but I do worry. My friends lab had the Lyme vx and still ended up getting it and dying of kidney failure at 7 years. Man those ticks I wish there was some way to control them!
