we briefly discussed SAMe and milk thistle. The internist said it wasn't necessary but the surgeon said it couldn't hurt if i did give it to her.

That is what Ellie's specialist said also.
Denosyl isn't necessary (because she doesn't really have symptoms) but it can only help. I decided that since Ellie's bile acids went up to 106 without Denosyl, it would be best to use it (no shunt or mvd as far as the vets can tell). I'd like to maintain her on diet alone but her BA are just too high and I don't want to find out later that it could've helped her if I used it and I chose not to, so I will continue. I don't like the price though.
